Heritage Quest Research Library - HQRL - Autumn Quest 2012 annual seminar, featuring Lisa Louise Cooke, will be held at the Faith Covenant Church, 1915 Washington Street, Sumner, WA. Registration open 8:15 - 9:00 am; four program sessions; soup & sandwich bar lunch available; and closing remarks at 3:00 pm. Session topics include: “Get the Scoop on Your Ancestors with Newspapers,” “Google Earth for Genealogy,” “How to Save Your Research from Destruction & Ensure Its Future Survival” and “Tap Into Your Inner Private Eye: 8 Strategies for Finding Living Relatives.” The seminar is $40.00 per person, but if you pay early, they will give you a $5.00 discount. Seattle Genealogical Society Fall Seminar – The theme of SGS’s 2012 Fall Seminar is “Re- Search and Prove.” Re-examine research strategies with fresh eyes to break through “brick walls” and find those elusive ancestors. There will be a keynote address by SGS Past President Ginny Sommarstrom, followed by your choice of research-related sessions. Topics include: Using Timelines In Genealogy; Epidemics & Chronic Diseases; Learning Online: Are You Challenging Yourself?; Advanced Googling & Mocavo; Finding Disconnected Family Members; DNA – The Final Proof?; Mapping Google Earth; Can You Prove It?; Genealogical Pitfalls: Hoaxes, Frauds, Scams And Bad Research. Redmond, Washington - Family History Expo 2012 – A day of FREE genealogy classes on a variety of subjects will be taught by experienced local genealogists. Registration and check-in will be from 8:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m. Welcome and a keynote address will be from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. Classes will start at 10:00 a.m. and run all day until 4:30 p.m. Bring your own lunch, or order a sack lunch at our online registration site.
